Dr. Matthew Brennecke, N.D.

Naturopathic Physician in Tigard, OR Focused on TRT, Medical Weight Loss, Men’s Sexual Health & Hair Restoration

Meet Dr. Matt Brennecke

Dr. Matthew Brennecke is an education-focused naturopathic physician who wants patients to understand not only what he recommends, but also how and why their treatment works. With strong foundations in clinical social work, mental health, pharmacy, and hormone medicine, he combines technical knowledge with an approachable, collaborative style.

Dr. Brennecke takes time to understand what is happening outside the exam room—including a patient’s routines, stress, sleep, relationships, responsibilities, and personal goals. He believes those details often provide important context for understanding hormone health and creating a treatment plan that will work in the patient’s actual life. His goal is for every patient to feel heard, informed, and actively involved in deciding what comes next.

Education, Training, and Clinical Experience

Dr. Brennecke earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Colorado State University and his Master of Science in Social Work, with a focus on clinical social work, from Columbia University in New York.

He later earned his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, now Sonoran University of Health Sciences.

His additional background includes:

  • Clinical social work and mental health
  • A strong pharmacy background
  • IV therapy
  • Testosterone replacement therapy and hormone optimization
  • Intensive training alongside Dr. Robert Strait, Dr. Joshua Moninger, and Dr. Amanda Norton

His training in social work and mental health shaped his ability to listen carefully, build trust, and understand the personal circumstances that may be affecting a patient’s health. His pharmacy background adds another layer to the way he evaluates and explains treatment options.

At Full Potential HRT Clinic, Dr. Brennecke has continued to deepen his knowledge through close collaboration, advanced training, and case consultation with experienced hormone physicians.

His Path to Whole-Person Hormone Care

Dr. Brennecke has long been fascinated by human physiology—how the body functions, how different systems influence one another, and how the right intervention can meaningfully change the way a person feels and functions.

Just as important to him is helping patients understand that physiology. He does not want treatment to feel like a set of unexplained instructions. He wants patients to understand what may be contributing to their symptoms, what their options are, and why a particular next step makes sense.

His background in clinical social work also taught him that health cannot always be fully understood from laboratory results alone. Sleep, stress, relationships, responsibilities, daily habits, and what is happening behind the scenes at home may all affect a person’s health and ability to follow a treatment plan.

Dr. Brennecke builds connection and trust by listening, engaging, validating what patients are experiencing, and learning about the life surrounding their symptoms. That whole-person understanding helps him identify practical opportunities to improve both treatment and quality of life.

Areas of Clinical Focus

Dr. Brennecke’s primary clinical focus is testosterone replacement therapy and hormone optimization for men. He also works with treatments intended to help appropriate patients maximize their own testosterone production.

He finds particular satisfaction in helping men who have gradually stopped feeling like themselves—whether they are struggling with afternoon fatigue, low motivation, decreased libido, changes in sexual function, difficulty maintaining muscle, or reduced participation in the activities and relationships that matter to them.

“There is great satisfaction in seeing patients go from needing naps every afternoon and struggling with low libido or sexual function to flourishing—participating in their own lives again and wishing they had found this kind of care sooner.”

Dr. Brennecke also provides medical weight-loss care, including treatment with semaglutide and tirzepatide when clinically appropriate. He combines medication with attention to the foundations that support long-term health, including nutrition, hydration, sleep, stress management, activity, and support.

His procedural interests include PRP hair restoration for men experiencing thinning hair or hair loss, as well as sexual health and performance treatments such as POTENTwave™ and POTENTshot™.

Across each of these areas, his focus remains the same: helping patients understand their options, choose a sensible plan, and measure whether treatment is producing meaningful improvement in their lives.

Why Dr. Matthew Brennecke Chose Full Potential HRT Clinic

Dr. Brennecke chose Full Potential because the work gives him the opportunity to help people feel like themselves again and begin participating more fully in their own lives.

He values practicing within a collaborative medical group where physicians teach one another, discuss cases, share knowledge, and continue learning new skills. He also appreciates the cohesiveness of the entire clinic team and the close-knit atmosphere among the medical and administrative staff.

The clinic gives him opportunities to do two things he particularly enjoys: teach and learn. He enjoys helping patients understand their bodies and treatment while also sharing knowledge with coworkers and learning from the collective experience of the medical team.

Dr. Brennecke is also drawn to an area of medicine in which appropriately selected patients may begin noticing meaningful changes relatively quickly. Seeing patients regain energy, motivation, confidence, sexual function, and engagement in their lives gives him a strong sense of professional satisfaction.

How Dr. Matthew Brennecke Approaches Patient Care

Dr. Brennecke describes his approach in three words: education, collaboration, and results.

He believes that the better he knows a patient, the better he can understand that person’s struggles and identify opportunities to make a meaningful difference. Conversations about work, family, interests, routines, and goals are not separate from medical care—they help him understand what the patient wants treatment to make possible.

He explains the reasoning behind his recommendations and involves patients in deciding what comes next. Rather than simply telling someone what to do, he wants the patient to understand the available options, the expected benefits and limitations, and how progress will be evaluated.

He also emphasizes the basic foundations of health:

  • Nutrition
  • Hydration
  • Sleep and recovery
  • Stress management
  • Physical activity
  • Meaningful support

These fundamentals do not replace medical treatment when treatment is needed. They provide the foundation upon which hormone optimization, medical weight loss, and other therapies are more likely to succeed.

Dr. Brennecke also wants patients to feel comfortable communicating with him when they have questions, experience a change, or believe something is not working. Prompt communication allows concerns to be addressed and clinically appropriate adjustments to be considered without unnecessarily waiting until the next routine appointment.

His goal is for patients to feel that they have a physician who listens, responds, and remains engaged as their treatment evolves.

Outside the Clinic

Outside the clinic, Dr. Brennecke enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, spending time with his dogs and cats, and being with the people who matter most to him.

He is committed to staying active and often uses his lunch hour to go rucking—walking around the area while carrying a weighted pack. Time outdoors and regular movement help him recharge and reinforce many of the same healthy habits he encourages in his patients.
